Our Review Of Emily Henry's Great Big Beautiful Life
Last month, we read Emily Henry's Great Big Beautiful Life, her newest book.
We are huge Emily Henry fans over here. Between Beach Read, Book Lovers, and Funny Story, everything she writes makes it into my top 20 favorite reads. This one I was super excited about, and it didn't miss!
In this book, two writers, Alice and Hayden are complete opposites — it's dark and stormy, meets ray of sunshine. And, they are both competing for the chance to get to write a memoir, of the famous Margaret Ives, who hasn't been heard from in years. Well, Margaret's story has quite the twists and turns...and secrets, and Alice and Hayden may or may not start to like each other while uncovering them all.
Here's my thoughts on the book, don't worry, there aren't any big spoilers here!
Our Review Of Emily Henry's Great Big Beautiful Life
I was a bit nervous when I started the book because it's a slow burn, both the writing and the romance featured! It started off with getting to know Margaret's story, and there were a lot of names and places that I was having trouble connecting with. However, once I got to the end of the book...I realize why those were mentioned and were such a big piece of the puzzle.
The Characters:
I loved Alice's character, and I had a feeling I would start to like Hayden once his walls came down (because we always know the dark and stormy type has a lot to share beyond that front).
The Storyline:
As I mentioned, it started slow but once you fall in love with both Alice and Margaret, it picks up. And, again...no spoilers, but the end...the end...WOW! It has such a great plot twist, and if you are one for liking a bit of a puzzle to put together, you'll love this book.
Would I recommend?
YES! Especially if you loved the book The Seven Husbands of Eveyln Hugo. While this book isn't anywhere near a copy and paste of that book, there were a lot of similarities that I felt between the two because of the celebrity memoir element.
Thanks for reading our review, and stay tuned for our next read's review!
