Getting Out of The Summer Slump and Having a Productive Fall
If you feel like your focus has been a little off this season, you're not alone. I think we can all agree that summer is for poolside sips, travels, and just embracing the slow lifestyle. Fall, on the other hand, when back-to-school season hits, so does back-to-work season. (But...if you're my boss reading this, I promise I work in summer, too!!!)
Fall is the season of fresh starts, and this is the perfect time to lock in and reset to start getting things done.
So, not only am I writing this blog for you, but it's for me too. We are in this together, trying to get out of the summer slump and jump into a focused fall. Here are the steps I'm taking, and I hope you follow along, too.
Desk Refresh
If my space is busy, my mind is busy. Whenever I'm feeling stressed or unfocused, a desk declutter is where I always start. This means, taking everything off, cleaning, and then putting back only the intentional things, and organizing or trashing the rest.
Revisit your Goals + Create a Moodboard
September is go time. It's more than halfway through the year, so those holidays are creeping up, and your New Year's resolutions might need a little attention again. Revisit your yearly goals and see where you are with these. Create a moodboard to help you get in the right mind frame to hone in on those goals.
Start the Longest To-Do List of Your Life
What's everything you have been procrastinating on? Write it all down in a Word Doc, leave it open for a few days if you have to. And, let's get one thing straight...It's going to overwhelm us. It's everything we need to do, likely the size of a book. But, instead of feeling like the world is ending, we are going to copy it into ChatGPT and ask it to organize it for you by a timeframe and/or priority. I'm definitely going to ask mine to have a daily list, starting with the simplest tasks first each day, so I can ease into things. This will be our roadmap for getting the focus back.
Romanticize It
Find small ways to find fun in your routine. If you haven't already, read our last blog on romanticizing your routine again in the fall. Even the smallest of tasks can take away the dread of these tasks. What can you do to shift your mindset this season? That's your homework for this blog!
Okay, so now we are both on the same page. We are getting our act together this fall, starting with your desk and romanticizing all the way through.
